Chilarai College came into existence on January 26, 1973. Education being a popular subject it is introduced in the time of the inception of the college. It is mentioned that among the colleges of Dhubri district, the college is first which introduced Education subject. From the very beginning the department has been playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of a vast majority of young aspiration in this socio- economically backward Indo-Bangladesh border area. In 1994, after joining Mr. Tarani Kanta Biswas as a lecturer in this department and his active initiation, Major/ Honours were introduced and from that time the department is able to attract attention of majority good quality students.
The Department is a quite experienced and matured department since inception of the college. It has a Departmental Library having sufficient text books and reference books to support teaching – learning process. It has a psychological laboratory with modern apparatus and tools which are used in the psychological laboratory practical classes. There are provisions of remedial classes for slow learners and additional classes especially for honours students. It has a strong and compact faculty to quench the thirst of knowledge of the students.
