The department of English has introduced honours/major courses from 1997. The department offers BA English Honours/Major, BA Regular/minor Courses The Department of English has an additional duty to teach English in HS Arts Classes in the college since its inception. Keeping in view of the necessity of improvement in Communicating Skills and Soft Skills among the students, the Department is going to start a Certificate Course in Spoken English as add on course for the students of the department soon. However the Department has initiated an honest attempt to teach the students having ICT facilities.

The department has dedicated department chamber with in house class room for honours students. The department has a wall magazine which is prepared by the students time to time. The overall attainment for a course is calculated by combining 20% of the Internal Assessment Test scores and 80% of the University Attainment Level.
