The Department of Philosophy was introduced at the very beginning and blessed time when the College was establised i.e. 1973 ,26 January.The then Srijut Nripendra Nath Roy was the Tutor of the Department and Gauri Mazumder was his colleque .After that Late Shila Das was joined as full placed Lecturer of the department but after getting the Govt Job she has resigned and her position has occupied by Nupur Synnal and DrSontosh kumar sarkar as permanent lecturer of the department. In 1987 the College was Deposided by the Assam Govermnt and this two post was sactioned. But after two years Miss Nupur Synnal has resigned as she joined in another college at West Bengle so the Vacant post also fillup by Dr Tapon Kaokoti in 1990 as a Faculti Member.Then Dr Sontosh Kumar Sarkar was HOD.When the department decided to open the Major Course in 1992 then it needs more man power to cover the syllabus so in 1993 Mr Keramat Ali Sheikh has joined the department as 3rd post to serve the Major Classes. From that time the actual journey of the department was started. The Enrolment and result of Major and General course was satisfactory from the beginning of the department .In 1994 Mr Tapon Kakoti has taken Lien Leave as he joined his nearest College .So This Lien post also fill up by Mr Keramat Ali Sheikh and after resigned by Dr Tapon Kakoti Again Mr Keramat Ali Sheikh has joined as permanent faculty Member of the Department in1996.That time Dr Sontosh Kumar Sarkar was HOD.But When DR Sontosh Kumar Sarkar took the charge of Vice Pincipal and after i/c Principal of the college then the department again needs more man power to run the Course.As a result Mr Sanjib Kumar Roy joined as a faculty member and few month later the department has another two faculties that Mr Sankar Roy and Mr Azizul Hoque for 2-3 years . After that Mr Jugol kishore Bhattacharya has joined as Non-sanctioned faculty. The enrolment and result of the department was satisfactory from the beginning of Major Course .For few month one notable alumni Miss Madhu Kumari Banthia has joined and working to help the department.Then another notable Alumni Mr Anowerul Alom Sarkar has joined as a Parmanent Non sanctioned Faculty.In 1921 our another Notable Alumni Mr Dipankar Roy Prodhani has served as guest lecturer for few month.At present the Department have total 4 nos faculties and three of them are sanctioned and one is Non-sanctioned. Program Specific Outcome of Three Years Degree (CBCS/ Non-CBCS) Philosophy.
This program includes six semesters both Honours and Generic Course of philosophy. Syllabus are also designed aiming to develop the personalities of the students and also it can boost up them for engaging in different field of activities of life like, Lawyer, teacher, Police service, Self-employed business man, Editors of Magazine, farmer and so on. This program not only gives the scope of livelihood but also it wash-up the weak and ill-mentality of the students for the greater interest of the society. Students can gear-up their behaviour through out their future life after leaving the college by the impact of study philosophy. It also boost up strong morality and rationality that strengthened self confidence to face any problems of life. Programme as a whole helps to grow-up a robust philosophical knowledge about the ancient philosophy of India.
