The Sanskrit Department of Chilarai College, Golakganj is an integral part of the institute which has been spreading progressive and advance education to the Pupils. The department was established in year 2006. The Department provides the students quality education so that they can go for Major (Hons’) and General (Regular) courses. The Pupils join in different co- curricular activities. The department is conducted under the able guidance of Mr. Rupak Adhikary, H.O.D, Assistant Professor (Non- Sanctioned), and Dr. Nipam Nath Dev Sarma, Assistant Professor (Non-Sanctioned). The Department also has a departmental library with valuable text books and references.
٭One of the purposes of the Department is to empower the students and prepare them to face the challenges of real life.
The vision of the Department is to make acquainted the students with the concepts of different disciplines like Scientific literature
,ancient astronomy , Astrology, Vastu-vidya, Philology, Philosophy etc. and inculcating among themselves moral values which is considered to be the Sanatana values of India, as Indian believes in the saying “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”.

Programme Outcomes:B.AinSanskrit.Toacquaintstudentswithaptknowledgeofancient tradition, customs through ancient works like Vedas, Upanishads and different scriptures.
Knowledge of the Sanskrit language.
Programme Specific Outcomes of Sanskrit in Degree-
CO1:ItgivestheknowledgeofdifferentIndianlanguagesasSanskritistheMotherofall languages.
CO2:AmongsttheIndianPhilosophiestsNyaya-Vaisesikagivesalogicalmindtothe students, Yoga Philosophy acquaints the students with the relation of body and mind.
CO3:Students have knowledge in the science of languages. CO4: Veda gives ancient wisdom.
CO5:ThroughSanskritstudents can learn Ayurveda ,its origin, development and influence in Ancient days as well as in the Modern days.
The college which is under Gauhati University is following the semester system. Here learning outcomes are measured through internal assessment producers like home assignments, seminar presentations, project works etc. External assessment producers like sessional examinations, mid and end semester examinations etc. are used to measure the learning outcomes. The final results of the students are declared by the university using the cumulative grading formula.
The department measures the level of attainment through the success of the students in different competitive examinations as well as their enrolment into higher education.

The students and the teachers of the department take part in extension activities and community engagement. The teachers and students of the department always participate in the extension or community engagement programmes organized by the NSS and NCC Unit of the college. The department involves various literary activities like debate competition, essay writing, story writing, poem writing, extempore speech, group discussion, seminar etc. for developing communication skill. Apart from these the department involves in Sanskrit Divas, Raksha Bandhan, Saraswati Puja, Independence Day, Republic Day etc. which are performed in the College. However, the department of Sanskrit has organized departmental meeting every year in every session for discussing department-related issues, sharing information, and making decisions that impact the department.
